Pitbull Protein Diet in Questions

Ok to mix blue wilderness with reg diet for pitbull puppie? I have a 13 week old pitbull. I've researched the hell out of what food to give her and my other dog. I decided to go with Great life hollistic pet food. By far the best ingriedients and not cooked in high heat to preserve all the nutrients not to mention completely grain and gluten free. However I don't like that it only has 17.5% crude protein in the diet. I was wondering if it is ok to add like a lil handful of bluewilderness to the food. It is really high in protein like 40% and as a full on diet not recommended for a pup. But how bout just a lil handful mixed with the othe food? Like for example I would buy like 1 big bag of great life to one small bag of blue wilderness and mix the two

nosaj replied: "Mixing a lot of different protein sources can cause digestive upset. The biggest concern for your pup now is calcium not protein.I would feed just the Blue Wilderness after the pup matures.

Not as active: Blue Buffalo: WILDERNESS"

Bob replied: "Muscle is the result of exercise more than food.

Compared to almost ANY dog food of today, the food we used to feed our dogs 20 years ago would be considered insufficient!! Considering that our dogs lived good lives then, I'd say that just about any dog food from today is more than adequate.
But if you're persnickety about your dog's nutrition, follow this simple rule: you get what you pay for. SOOOO buy the best food you can reasonably afford and rest assured it will be an excellent choice for your dog."

bds replied: "Feed a good quality dog food that doesn't have corn/wheat/soy in it. Some good ones are Taste of the Wild, Wellness, Pinnacle, Merrick. The muscular look doesn't necessarily come just from the food but from good exercise too."

durdenslabs replied: "No, you got a female APBT. Coloring does NOT matter in the breed (unless it's merle, which is NOT a breed color).

A female APBT will only weigh about 55 lbs full grown. If you wanted a big scary looking dog you got the wrong one, lol. Pits are the best family dogs and very people friendly. The only way to make it mean is to be mean and cruel to it.

Just feed the dog Nutro puppy food until she's 1 yr old. Then you go to Nutro Large breed."

austina77 replied: "you could feed your dog blue buffalo or canidae"

Jenifer, RVT replied: "OK- look at it this way: I eat a high protein diet and I'm not muscular. OR I eat a high protein diet, work out a lot and am muscular.

Which one makes sense? Look for the best food you can afford."
